After the success of the first annual Pole Unity event that was held last year, the Pole Fitness Association of South Africa (PFASA) is excited to announce that the 2012 Pole Unity will be hitting Joburg in August.

The proceeds of this year’s Pole Unity event will be going to the charity, Kmad. A registered NPO, Kmad is an outreach and development programme whose undertaking it is to uplift communities through the joyous and healing power of dance. Free dance training is offered to previously disadvantaged individuals and free teacher’s training is provided to those in the Graduate Programme.

Eight teachers have qualified through fantastic initiative. Over the years they have managed to successfully grow an outreach programme in Mamelodi West and they hope to continue to provide people in the community with not only the training they need, but the hope, joy and empowerment that they deserve.

Using the showcasing of pole fitness to raise money, Pole Unity promises to demonstrate the fun side of pole dancing and to introduce newcomers to what has become the most exciting, dynamic, challenging and effective form of exercise this country has ever seen. One of the founders, Julie Swart said, “We can’t wait for this event! We believe so strongly in the power of dance. If we can take this message to new pole fitness members and give back to the community at the same time, then we really feel that we’ve done something important in the world.”

The poles will be out and you’ll be able to get your body moving, find out why pole fitness is one of the most popular and reputable forms of exercise in the world and you’ll also be helping people less fortunate than yourselves. 5fm DJ Nicole da Silva is MC for the event and tickets cost R190 and are available online, here.
