When did you join the Vertical Vixen studios?
I joined Vertical Vixen in March 2015.
What were your reasons for joining?
I was tired and bored with my usual gym routine and decided to give pole fitness a try. Being physically fit certainly helped but did not prepare me for the journey I had embarked upon. I call it a journey, because there is no such thing as being unchallenged or bored in a pole class. Whether or not it is getting to grips hanging upside down by your knee, trying to contort your body into a gracious pose, overcoming a fear of heights or battling your own inner personal insecurities and fears, you are constantly growing.
Pole has stretched me physically, emotionally and mentally. I have learnt more about myself and what I am capable of from pole, more than anything else I have attempted in my life. I never for one minute thought that at 49 I would be doing pole, never mind competing in my first ever pole competition!
What other benefits / experiences / friendships have you gained from your classes at Vertical Vixen?
I have met some incredibly strong, beautiful women from all walks of life who all have a story of courage to tell! Classes are always filled with support and encouragement, much laughter and fun!
What advice would you give to anyone thinking of trying pole?
Just do it! All you need to do is show up and as with everything in life, practice makes perfect, just don’t give up!
Anything else you would like to share?
Vertical Vixen is my happy place. Julie runs an amazing studio. Not only is she an inspiring pole dancer but she is a fantastic coach and mentor!
